The Department of Strategic Policy and Delivery (DSPD) under the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) and its stakeholders organized a two-day internal validation workshop for The Gambia Government Policy Framework Study Report.
The two-day synergy ended last week at Banjul City Council’s (BCC) new conference hall building in Banjul.
The Policy framework study report was to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the policymaking landscape, and processes in The Gambia and establish an evidence baseline to support the development of the National Policy Framework.
If it went through final external validation, the policy will guide government-wide policy processes, including the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies, and mainstreams the use of evidence and data. Thus will also ensures government actions are coherent, comprehensive, and coordinated.
The National Policy Framework is a strategic Priority 1 under Outcome 2.8 of the Governance Reforms Pillar in the RF-NDP (2023-2027), which calls for a framework to harmonize policy formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation” (RF-NDP, 2023).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director, Policy Analysis Unit at the Department of Strategic Policy and Delivery (DSPD) under the Ministry of Public Service Mr. Njaga Gaye expressed appreciation for participants turn-out to the workshop.
According to Mr. Gaye, policies need to be standardized, and at the same time emphasized that every policy need to be aligned with the country’s policy framework once it is develop.
DSPD Policy Analysis Unit Director Gaye informed participants that Ministry of Public Service is planning to come-up with standardized policy framework for the entire civil service.
“We are here with our ministry’s key stakeholders because after this internal validation, we will expose the report for external validation whereby more stakeholders be invited to take part,” Mr. Gaye informed.
