The Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery has urged Permanent Secretaries’ to work as a cohesive team with renewed vigour and dedication to succeed.
Hon. Baboucarr Bouy was speaking on Wednesday December 20, 2023 as he presided over the closing ceremony of three-day third Quarter Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat held at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center in Bijilo.
Public Service minister Bouy described the Retreat as a constructive, educative, interactive and fruitful synergy for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He commended the Permanent Secretaries’ (PSs) and Directors from various MDAs for advancing the National Development Plan (NDP-YIRIWA) agenda of the President.
Minister Bouy thanked the Public Service Ministry staff led by Permanent Secretary Alieu Loum for providing technical support for the success of the retreat.
“You (PSs) therefore, have a critical role to play in the development of the country. You are the face of the Government, you are responsible for ensuring that the image that we have as a country is one that we should be proud of both locally and internationally,” said minister Bouy.
During discussion and answer session, Permanent Secretary, Office the President, Madam Mariam Njie suggested that civil Servants needs to be well equip with working tools.
PS at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Madam Amie Njie described PMO as the nerve center for Government and she therefore explained that as a Government, they cannot continue to operate.
The chairman of the three-day third Quarter Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat who double as the secretary to cabinet, Alieu Njie thanked the Minister of Public service, Hon. Baboucarr Bouy and staff for organizing the fruitful and impressive retreat.
He described the Permanent secretaries’ and Director’s contributions during the synergy as imminence, adding that their unflinching support was appreciated.
