Records Personnel concludes Four weeks In-Service training

Forty (40) Records Personnel from various Government institutions on Thursday May 9, 2024 concluded 19th In-Service Training Program which lasted for four weeks at Management Development Institute (MDI), Kanifing.

“We expect that when you (participants) go back to your various institutions, you will serve as MDI ambassadors. Let people know that you acquired new skills from these 4 weeks training course,” Mr. Conateh advised.

The Consultant at MDI, Mr. Burama Jammeh informed participants that their work benefit Gambians and the whole world in general.

“You came here to learn new knowledge. MDI and your ministry are expecting lots from you, because your participation in this training is to equip you delivered well in your work area,” Mr. Jammeh explained.

During the training Mr. Jammeh went on, participants were exposed to Civil Service Ethics and Code of Conduct, Civil Service Management and the Structure of Government among others.

Head of the Current Records Directorate at NRS, Maimuna Janneh revealed that the training covered a comprehensive range of topics like: Records Management Principles and Concepts, Records Office Procedures, Semi-current Records Management, Archival Services, Electronic Records Management, Vital Records Plan (Disaster Plan), Records Security and Privacy, Writing Skills (Reports, etcetera) and Customer Care (Records Office- User

She said during the training, participants went through practical exercises, industrial attachment (3 days), and interactive sessions thus to enhance their learning experience.

“Recognizing the significance of continuous professional development, we believe that providing training opportunities of this nature to our records personnel was timely,” she said.

Director, NRS, Bartholomew Bartha Marong spoke at the ceremony. 48 Heads from Records Offices today Monday May 13, 2024 commence similar five-day training at MDI.
